Solstice
This year, 4th Street Fine Art is proud to present Solstice show. Solstice happens twice a year, once when the sun is highest in the sky (summer) and once when it is lowest in the sky (winter). We have brought in many outside artists to celebrate the seasons along with many regular 4th Street Fine Artists with all work in 6 x 6 format.
Solstice was observed early on in Greek times and also in the East. In Asia, many calendars were based on 24 months around beginnings of solstices traditionally. In England they build Stone Henge to observe the solstice annually. In South America, the Mapuche had the Gate of Sun, which receives light only on the solstice.
