I Feel Fine
Group Exhibition
Featuring work by the artists of
4th Street Fine Art

On View: March 4 - April 3
Opening Reception: March 6, 3 - 6 pm

“How are you? I’m fine, thanks.”   It's a simple response to an overwhelmingly complex question.  With a nod to the 1987 REM song The End of the World As We Know It, member artists reach deep to explore our state of being in the world today.

We have a wide selection of hand-made, local art, including painting, prints, photography,
sculpture and jewelry. From safari shots of leopards to one-of-a-kind handcrafted necklaces to
oil nudes and paper collage, we have it all. Our gallery features several artists’ work spaces, so
you can see the tools of the trade. We’re conveniently located right off the University exit in
Berkeley, two blocks from the Apple Store. You can visit us along with the other fine shops of
4th Street. See you soon!

About Some of our Artists

Prabin Badhia
I like the gestures, contours, and volume of the human form. Whether the model‘s pose is active or passive, I seek to convey the dynamism and movement of the body. I bring that to action on my canvas - any size, any shape, any gender.  Since my college days, I have made more than 100,000 sketches.

We are passionate about the out-of-doors and have also been bitten by the travel bug! Our cameras accompany us on all of our adventures so we can capture images of spectacular places we have visited. Photography has allowed us to gain a more intimate perspective on wildlife while viewing them through the lens of a camera.

Cindy Podren
I have always wanted to paint and never did, until about twenty years ago.  In 2002, I  suffered the biggest personal loss of my life and began.  My journey was the reverse of the usual: I started in oils.  Currently, I paint in watercolor on paper, especially outdoors or when travelling, and with acrylics on a variety of materials. I try to experiment always, most lately with pours, collage, and yupo paper.  Most of my work is figurative, although I am always trying to hold my breath and leap to abstracts. I paint plein air landscapes, usually once a week weather permitting, and do studio work from my photographs, hoping to convey my feelings about these sites and the beauty of the ordinary. In short, I try to emulate Joan Mitchell and carry my landscapes around with me.

Michael Sacramento
My urban collage paintings are inspired by my day to day observations - from street scenes, billboards and posters to often overlooked surfaces, architectural elements and birds.  I translate these moments into fragmented images, objects, textures and colors.  As I collect and interpret these visual cues, I use them to create a new visual   experience.  This process for me is purely intuitive and my ultimate form of self expression.

My work process involves intuition, imagination as well as intellect; serendipity as well as planning and design. I always observe the world around me, consciously noting details and I leave it to my senses to randomly record what they deem worthy of interest. It will trickle down to my consciousness later.

I love to make jewelry and love even more seeing my friends, family and customers wearing my designs.  My goal is to create pieces that are art to wear.  Pieces that are a little bit different - come join me if you can.

Celena Peet
Making art lets me tell the unlikely stories that are in my head, and express the tenuous connections that I see in the world and in disparate materials. Craft a coherent narrative from my sometimes incoherent thoughts. Create order.
